If you don't already know, I recently went on a fantastic holiday to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I love going to America for many reasons but mainly because I get to stock up on baking supplies. This time, I really excelled myself in the shopping and would like to share with you the loot I managed to carry back home. I have never spent so much just on baking supplies in one go but I'm sure they will ALL be put to good use :) Some of the pictures are not very clear but you will see them again in detail when I get round to using them.
I will also be posting some foodie pictures from the trip later on - I have about 600 photos to sift through at the moment so please bear with me! In the meantime I have already baked with some of the stuff you see below so do check back this week as you won't want to miss it!
Ok are you ready? I have to say I got so excited gathering them to photograph as it reminded me of everything I have... I can't wait to use them all!! You will notice a lot of Williams-Sonoma , Wilton and Nordicware products here and the obvious American candies.
PS this post was not intended to make anyone jealous!! I have had quite a few requests to share my baking shopping so here they are :)
L to R from back: message in a cookie cutter, russian doll measuring cups, checkerboard cake pan, banana bread tin, mini teacake pan and miniature bundt tin
back row L to R: Mint oreo fudge creme cookies, momofuku milk bar cookie mix (can't wait to try), coloured sanding sugar underneath, reese's mini peanut butter cups
Middle row L to R: Mint oreo cookies, hershey's kisses, peanut butter m&m's and pastel sanding sugar
front row L to R: petit pie mould (it was on sale for $4!), reese's peanut butter chips
L to R: vegetable chopper and measure, avocado dicer, lemon juicer, strawberry slicer and an ice cream scoop (I have an obsession with these and already have 3 different sized ones - great for making cookies and cupcakes and scooping ice cream of course)
whoopie pie pan (again it was on sale for $6 - how could I not?), cake pop pan and mini doughnut pan
I think you can pretty much guess what I will be baking for the whole year! There's a few others that are not here but I'm sure you will see them sooner or later :)
ooh what a stash! you're making me want to go across the pond for a holiday now...last time I went I bought an shredder for my kitchen aid...so much cheaper.....is that Reeses peanut butter chips I see...yum!
ReplyDeleteI looked at kitchenaid attachments too but decided against them for all of these! yes peanut butter chips.. havent decided what to make yet :)
DeleteWow, what a haul! You must have filled an extra suitcase with that! Very jealous, can't wait to see what you do with it all. I'm intrigued by the chequerboard pan. I once made a chequerboard cake but cut out all the rings myself (freehand) so it turned out a bit wonky!
ReplyDeletemore than an extra suitcase! I am planning to use the checkerboard pan this weekend for a friend's birthday so you may not have to wait long :)
DeleteOh wow! this is completely amazing - I can definitely see how you went over on your weight allowance!! haha, all those metal pans can't have helped! I can't wait to see you using the cake pop pan, that seems awesome! and I have never tried the Mint Oreo Fudge Creme's before so can't wait to hear what they taste like! I am in love with the banana bread tin and the message cookies are so cute plus I can't wait to see what peanut butter delights you bake up with all those m&m's and reese's cups. This post was well worth the wait!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe tins were very heavy which is why I couldn't buy more. There was one with 4 different bundt tins on which I really wanted but couldn't fit into my suitcase! I haven't decided what to do with the mint oreo fudge creme but I've already baked with the mint oreos and banana bread tin so check back soon :) and yes there will definitely be a lot of peanut butter love!
DeleteI am jealous! But thrilled for you, however we do expect to see loads of marvelous American style bakes on your blog VERY soon! Esp that chequerboard cake, looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am very excited about the checkerboard pan. I had to flatten the box and squeeze the contents into my suitcase! Hopefully posting next weekend as I plan to use it for a birthday this weekend. Also saw a cool easter cake with it on wilton's website.
DeleteCrikey! I definitely have to get myself to the USA ASAP!!! Fabulous booty!
ReplyDeleteThanks... I really had to restrain myself. If it wasn't for the luggage restriction and my bank balance I would have bought the whole shop!
DeleteI have a chopper gadget thingy like the one pictured (mine's not from Williams Sonoma tho) and it really is a god-send for so many things. I use it for soups, apple sauce, salads... Anyway, I'm glad you found some awesome toys for the kitchen ;)
ReplyDeleteI already have one which is old and the blade is not sharp so I was well excited to see this improved version. I love it too. I absolutely love kitchen gadgets even if I won't use it much.
DeleteWOW i am sooo Jealous, how did you get it all back?? i hope to go to the USA soon, been talking about it for the last year!
ReplyDeleteBelieve me it was a struggle but I managed... just about. It did involve an extra suitcase, hasty repacking and carrying hand luggage! Hope you get to go this year.
DeleteI can't believe you got all that home with you! It looks like I'll be heading to the US later this year so will have to do a bit of shopping myself...
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it either! There's still a few things that are not here if you can believe there's more!! I won't be asking you to buy me anything as I can't afford anymore! plus I'll have to buy a house just to store everything!!
DeleteWow - must admit I was curious to see what goodies you'd bring back! I've also got the message in a cookie set from Williams Sonoma - I discovered at Christmas that they now ship certain items to the UK and tried out their service. I've had to try and forget about it as the shipping cost is not cheap, but I do love their products *sigh*.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll have great fun with it all and I can't wait to see the results! :)
Have you used the message in a cookie set yet? I'm so excited I want to use everything now but must pace myself. I went to the flagship store in San Francisco - 3 floors of heaven!!
DeleteNo, not yet, but I do have plans to use it pretty soon! Had to check though that it had enough letters for some of the Welsh names I'm planning on doing (using 3 ns for example!). Wow, 3 floors? Mike would have to drag me away!
DeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I am happy your were able to find so many goodies to bring back with you.
ReplyDeletePlease stop by my blog, I have an award for you.
I had the most amazing trip! Thank you so much for the award - I am honoured :)
DeleteSome people would think we're nuts - going to LA and filling suitcases full of baking goodies. But I'd do exactly the same thing and I'm more than a little jealous of you right now!
ReplyDeleteYes I know and I also bought shoes and clothes and other non baking stuff but obviously more of the baking variety :)
DeleteHow on earth did you manage to carry all this home!!! It all looks great...I want one of those banana bread tins!! :-)
ReplyDeletewith a lot of difficulty!! I've already baked with the banana bread tin, will post it tomorrow or later this week :)
DeleteOMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! I have been AVOIDING this post because I know once I read about all your baking goodies..I'm gonna want to jump onto and just order everything and then be broke :(
ReplyDeleteI am SUPER DUPER URBER jealous!!! That you bought so much back hehe OMG you got the message cookie I saw it online and was going to buy it but not sure how often I'll use it :D please let me know when you've used it and if its worth purchasing~
So excited to see what goodies you're going to make with these new baking supplies!
Well you asked for the post ;) I'm not sure when I will use the message cookie either but I just couldn't resist. I figured it would come in handy one day. It does look pretty cool. I've already baked with a few things here so check back soon :)
DeleteWell I can tell you are back as my reader is now groaning with more posts to read! I loved your purchases next time you will have to leave your clothes behind to make room. I have a chequerboard pan too but not got round to using it yet so looking fwd to seeing yours!
