The theme for this month's Forever Nigella is 'Afternoon Tea'. I knew immediately that I wanted to use my Williams-Sonoma mini tea cake pan that I bought from America. I made 2 flavours - vanilla and chocolate as you just can't beat the classics. I used Nigella's spruced up vaniila cake recipe and old fashioned chocolate cake recipe both of which I've made previously with good success and this was no exception. The cakes were delightfully moist and tasty but the real wow factor came from the shape of the cakes. How cute are they?

I bought this mini ice cream scoop which is called a cookie scoop from the same store - it's perfect for filling these cakes, 1 scoop per cake!

DeleteThese little beauties look amazing. LOVE the tin and mini ice cream scoop. But what I really love is that you have just left them plain. It would be so easy to decorate these, and yes that would look great too, but sometimes a little bit of sponge cake (without icing) is just what is called for. Thank you for entering this months Forever Nigella.
ReplyDeleteI did think about decorating them but I ran out of time and my decorating skills are very amateurish. Sometimes you just cant beat plain and simple especially with bundt cakes where the shape is the wow factor. Thanks for hosting Forever Nigella!

DeleteI love that baking tin - I'm such a sucker for thing like that! The cakes look really cute - and beautiful all piled up together. I do like that Nigella recipe for 'spruced up vanilla cake' - I've used it a couple of times and it's a great texture!

DeleteAh, this mould looks so cool - at first I was so shocked thinking it must have taken days to make so many dainty little cakes in different shapes... it never occurred to me that maybe they made a mould specifically like this. What a fun thing to have!

I have the same pan, but never thought to use Nigella's cake recipes for it. How long did the cakes take to bake?

I know it's been many years, but the scoop: is that the one inch diameter or the one and a half inch that fits these pans so well? I have the pans but the scoops I have don't seem to be the right size.
